Note that these are posted by date received not by department, different ads from the same department may be covered in separate bullet points. Please check back in for updates and a new additions.

Under Clause 13.03 of the new Collective Agreement between LUMUN and MUN, “Postings shall include, but are not limited to, the nature of the position, the application deadline, the course weight, the mode of delivery, campus, and the requirements for the position including academic and professional qualifications and experience.”

Please Note:

  • regular hiring is based on seniority and qualifications
  • of the applicants who meet the posted required qualifications, the applicant with the most seniority will be offered the position
  • under Qualifications, language such as “would be an asset,” “PhD Preferred,” and “Preference will be given to” typically comes into play only if two (or more) candidates with equal seniority meet the qualifications that are REQUIRED.
    • For example, the Qualifications section of an ad might say, “A Master’s in [SUBJECT AREA], PhD Preferred”
      • if the candidate with the highest seniority has a Master’s in [SUBJECT AREA], they have met the qualifications and will be offered the course
      • if, however, one candidate has a Master’s and the other has a PhD, and the candidates have equal seniority, the course will be offered to the PhD holder
